Youth Exchange 2022

Mental Health without borders

Educating youth, tackling stigma, and breaking down borders to mental health care.

Why MHWB?

Throughout the past two years, not only has there been a pandemic of an airborne virus, but there has also been a disastrous increase of mental health illnesses. Particularly, the mental health crisis of current generations has been exacerbated by the pandemic. It has also brought to light the large population of those that have been living with mental health disorders. While mental health de-stigmatization has made progress over the years, there is a significant disparity of access to care across countries in the EU. This called for further action by youth. Thus, Mental Health Without Borders was created.

What will it be like?

An experience of a lifetime! Whether you have participated in youth exchanges before, or if it will be your first time, the experience will be awesome! You’ll get together with an amazing group of youth that are focused on an important topic. From there, you’ll plan and share knowledge together through informal education such as activities and lived experiences. At the same time, there will be lots of fun, food, exploring, and amazing memories!

The ultimate goal of the programme is to create new connections and start something that continues beyond the borders of the youth exchange!

Where will it be?

The inaugural MHWB youth exchange will take place in the beautiful city of Tallinn, Estonia. Find out more about the venue below. Accommodations and food will be provided.

When will it happen?

The first youth exchange programme takes place between April 19th – April 27th, 2022. Arrival day is on the 19th and dinner will be served. The first activities begin on the morning of April 20th. The final activity will begin after breakfast on April 27th. After that, it is farewell! This means we all get a full week of fun, learning, and sharing!

While we have a general schedule, this is a youth exchange. So, the schedule is expected to change as participants plan various informal education activities. Click below to go to the schedule of activities.

What does Informal Education Mean?

Informal education can mean a number of things. In principle, it is everything EXCEPT the traditional lecturer to class situation. A youth exchange thrives on participation by you! Yes you! The foundation of the programme is built on your enthusiasm and contribution to the topic and activities and informal education. Participants will plan and schedule in their own activities to bring their own experiences and knowledge to the group! Here are some more ideas of what activities will happen at MHWB!
